Notice of Proposed Primary Property Tax Levy Increase and Municipal Streetlight Improvement Districts’ Property Tax Levy Increase for FY 2026/27

Apr 22, 2026
Description:

The City of Scottsdale hereby gives notice that, for fiscal year 2026/27, it may increase its primary property tax levy over last year. The potential increase is primarily due to the two-percent (2%) statutory adjustment. However, the primary property tax rate of $0.4891 may decrease to as low as $0.4801 per $100 of assessed valuation as a result of increases in net assessed limited property values.

The City also gives notice that it may increase the tax levies for the Municipal Streetlight Improvement Districts (SLIDs).

The links below provide the schedule of proposed property tax levies and rates and the written report supporting the possible increase in the primary property tax levy, as well as the schedule and written report supporting the proposed increase in the SLIDs' tax levies.

This notice does not mean that the City is increasing the primary property tax levy. It means that the City Council may discuss a possible primary property tax levy increase and a possible rate decrease to $0.4801 during the City Council Tentative Budget Meeting, presently scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Scottsdale City Hall Kiva Forum, 3939 N. Drinkwater Boulevard, Scottsdale, Arizona.

A SLIDs Public Hearing, a Property Tax Public Hearing, and a Truth in Taxation Hearing are presently scheduled for the City Council meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Scottsdale City Hall Kiva Forum, 3939 N. Drinkwater Boulevard, Scottsdale, Arizona.

Following those public hearings, formal adoption of the ordinances for the SLIDs and City property tax levies is planned for the City Council meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Scottsdale City Hall Kiva Forum, 3939 N. Drinkwater Boulevard, Scottsdale, Arizona. This date is no sooner than 60 days after the posting of this notice.

The meetings listed above will also be broadcast on Cox Cable Channel 11 and streamed online at ScottsdaleAZ.gov, search "live stream." Please check the City Council website for meeting agendas and the latest updates regarding public participation and comment opportunities.
