Brown’s Ranch Trailhead is scheduled for targeted upgrades that will enhance visitor experience, improve safety, and support long-term stewardship of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.

Project Objectives

  • Refined parking-lot design for improved durability, drainage and circulation
  • Building enhancements to include lighting and roofing for increased comfort and safety
  • A new trail dispersal area with the rerouting of five trail segments to help reduce congestion while ensuring the protection of sensitive areas remain intact

Construction Safety Measures

Dust control and fire prevention measures will be implemented to minimize dust, maintain air quality, and reduce wildfire risk.

Measures include:

  • On-site water wagon
  • Dust control plan and permit
  • Fire suppression equipment on-site

Temporary Trail Closures

For your safety, Brown’s Ranch trailhead and parking lot will be closed while undergoing improvements. During this time, there will be no parking on streets or in nearby neighborhoods allowed.

For access into the Preserve, please visit another trailhead. Maps to the South Preserve and North/Central Preserve are available for your use.
