  1. 68th Street Bike Lanes

    This project will make a series of improvements to 68th Street between Indian School Road and Thomas Road with the goal of improving safety, connectivity, and the quality of life for residents, students and visitors by completing critical north/south regional bike lanes on this major roadway.

  2. 68th Street Sidewalk - Arizona Canal to Camelback Road

    The city will construct a 6-foot sidewalk on both sides of 68th Street from the Arizona Canal to just south of Camelback Road. The project will provide a consistent paved sidewalk to improve pedestrian movement and safety along this corridor.

  3. Aquifer Storage and Recovery Wells

    Beginning in the fall of 2020, Scottsdale is constructing four new aquifer storage and recovery wells at strategic locations throughout the city.

  4. Ashler Hills Park

    Construction work began in December 2023 on the construction of Ashler Hills Park and is scheduled to be complete in early 2025. Native plant salvage took place in advance of construction during the fall of 2023.

  5. Bike and Pedestrian Studies

  6. Bond Project 25: Replacing Aging Buildings that Comprises Paiute Community Center, The Residence at Paiute

    The City of Scottsdale is in the early planning stages for two different projects at Paiute Neighborhood Center. The center opened in 1995 to fulfill a need for community programs and social services. The City of Scottsdale intends to begin design of a new building to replace the aging structures that currently comprise the Paiute Neighborhood Center. The current buildings are aging, in constant need of repair and do not allow the city to best meet the needs of the community. The city is considering a separate project to add a 2nd story to the new building. This separately funded addition would consist of up to 28 affordable housing units. Any design for such a project will take into account all relevant building codes and ordinances.

  7. Build Multiuse Sports Fields in the area of Bell Road

    This project will build up to 13 full-sized multi-use sports fields along the Bell Road Corridor to meet the increased demand for lighted sports fields in the community, create the ability for Scottsdale to host larger tournaments and increase revenue. The fields will be used as parking for special events for a few weeks each year to replace temporary parking lots on Arizona State Land that will become unavailable as the land is sold.

  8. Carefree Highway

    The city of Scottsdale is in the early stages of design for improvements to Carefree Highway, from Cave Creek Road to Scottsdale (Tom Darlington) Road, to improve the capacity and operational efficiency of the roadway. This project will ultimately expand Carefree Highway from two to four lanes (two lanes in each direction) with a center landscaped raised median island and will include bike lanes, shared-use path/trail, and curb and gutter. Drainage improvements and utility work will also take place as part of the project.

  9. Civic Center Improvements

    The construction fence has come down around the final portion of Scottsdale’s Civic Center renovation opening access to the Children’s Gardens, Water and Fog Plaza, new restrooms, City Hall Lagoons and the East Bowl to the public. Work will continue for the next few months to complete the final elements of the project. The western two-thirds of the project opened in January 2023.

  10. Civic Center Mall Master Plan

    On May 1, 2018, the Scottsdale City Council approved a Master Plan for the Civic Center area which lays the groundwork for major and minor repairs to infrastructure, the addition of vital amenities, and provides a road map for future improvements as funding becomes available.

  11. DC Ranch Neighborhood Park

    Parks & Recreation

    DC Ranch Neighborhood Park will be built in two phases. Phase one is currently underway and is scheduled to be complete during the spring of 2022. Planning for phase two is just beginning and this portion of the project is not yet funded.

  12. Downtown Splash Pad

    Construction work will begin Sept. 30 on a new splash pad near the Marshall Way Bridge in Old Town Scottsdale. The new splash pad will replace the turf area by the fountain closest to Stetson Dr. on the south approach to the Marshall Way Bridge.

  13. Fire Station 606 Renovation

    The City of Scottsdale is making several improvements to Fire Station 606 which is located at the northeast corner of Via Linda and 108th St.

  14. Fire Station 612

    Design and construct a new 12,000 square foot fire station northwest of the Airpark near the 101 and Hayden Road to improve response times.

  15. Granite Reef Watershed Drainage and Flood Control Improvement

    Construction

    Stormwater & Floodplain Mgmt

    The primary objective of the Granite Reef Watershed Improvement Project is to eliminate the risk of structural flooding, eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) floodplain along Granite Reef Wash, and reduce street and yard flooding.

  16. Happy Valley Road: Pima Road to Alma School Road

    Construction

    Transportation

    This project will widen Happy Valley Road to two through lanes in each direction with a landscaped median, curb and gutter, bike lanes, sidewalk and drainage improvements from Pima Road through the intersection of Alma School Road. The purpose of the proposed improvements is to improve capacity and operational efficiency.

  17. Indian Bend Wash - Repair Lakes and Irrigation

    Work began in mid-January to repair the irrigation system in a section of Eldorado Park between Murry Lane and McDowell Road. Eldorado Pond is closed while the irrigation system around the lake and the area immediately south of it is rebuilt. This phase of construction is scheduled to be complete in the Fall of 2024.

  18. Indian Bend Wash Underpass at Chaparral Road

    This project will create a new pedestrian underpass along the Indian Bend Multi-use Path on the east side of Hayden Road under Chaparral Road. The project will increase safety at this busy intersection by reducing conflicts and allow more green light time for vehicles by reducing bike and pedestrian traffic.

  19. Install High Efficiency Sports Lighting at 4 Facilities

    This project replaced, upgraded or installed new lighting systems for sports fields at Laguna and Pima schools, Horizon Park and at two unlit fields at Scottsdale Sports Complex to meet increased demand and current sports lighting standards, and to minimize light spillage in adjacent neighborhoods. This project was completed in 2021.

  20. McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park Improvements

    Construction is underway on several improvements to McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. The improvements combine several projects that were identified in the 2017 park master plan and focus on elements designed to boost park attendance during the summer months when park attendance declines.

  21. Miller Road - Pinnacle Peak Road to Happy Valley Road

    Transportation

    Construction work is underway on the completion of Miller Road between Pinnacle Peak Road and Happy Valley Road, including a bridge over the Rawhide Wash. The project is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2024.

  22. Pima Road Improvements: Pinnacle Peak Road to Happy Valley Road

    The project will widen Pima Road to three through lanes in each direction with a landscaped median, bike lanes, sidewalk and drainage improvements from 500-feet north of Pinnacle Peak Road to north of Happy Valley Road.

  23. Raintree Drive Extension

    Construction

    The Raintree Drive Extension will provide a direct connection between the State Route Loop 101 Freeway and Scottsdale Road. This extension will simplify the route from Hayden Road to Scottsdale Road and help to relieve some of the traffic congestion currently experienced on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

  24. Reata Wash Flood Control Study

    The Reata Wash floodplain encompasses a large area in north Scottsdale between approximately Pinnacle Peak Road and the Central Arizona Project Canal. Approximately 30 years ago, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) defined the 100 year Reata Wash floodplain based on the potential flood hazards identified. There are more than 4,600 residential, public facilities and commercial structures located within the floodplain at potential risk of flooding.

  25. Replace Tennis Court Surface at Indian School Park and Scottsdale Ranch Park

    This project will replace thirty-six, old asphalt tennis courts at Indian School Park and Scottsdale Ranch Tennis Center with post-tension concrete -- a modern system that will dramatically increase the life of the courts and reduce ongoing maintenance and operating costs.

  26. Scottsdale Road Improvements Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive

    The City of Scottsdale will soon begin construction for improvements to Scottsdale Road from Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive. Road improvement construction is scheduled to begin April/May 2024 and take approximately 18 months to complete.

  27. Shea Boulevard ITS & Intersection Improvements

    Construction

    Transportation

    Work is underway to install Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) fiber, vaults and conduit along Shea Blvd. between Loop 101 and 136th Street. The ITS installation will improve traffic operations along the corridor and facilitate future intersection improvements at Shea Blvd. and Via Linda, 110th, 114th and 136th streets.

  28. Thomas A. Hontz Police & Fire Training Facility Renovation

    Construction

    Public Safety

    First responders in Scottsdale will have new facilities to train at thanks to three bond projects that will replace, modernize and expand the fire and police training buildings at the Tom Hontz Training Facility.

  29. Thomas Road: 56th Street to 73rd Street

    Design

    Transportation

    This project will make several needed improvements to Thomas Road between 56th Street and 73rd Street. The project will address the maintenance needs of the roadway and replace and/or upgrade water and sewer infrastructure under the road. The lane striping will be restored to the current configuration.

  30. Thompson Peak Park Dog Park

    Design

    Parks & Recreation

    This project will build a three-and-a-half-acre dog park consisting of separate fenced and gated areas. The park will be designed and constructed in a manner similar to the off-leash area at Chaparral Park and provide pet owners a safe place to exercise their dogs.
