Project Summary

The City of Scottsdale is making several improvements to Fire Station 606 which is located at the northeast corner of Via Linda and 108th St. Originally built in 1985, the station now requires significant upgrades, as several of its major systems have reached the end of their useful life. The building’s sewer line has failed, resulting in unsanitary backflows, and electrical and HVAC systems are also in need of replacement.

The existing tri-level design of the station presents operational challenges and does not meet ADA standards. The renovation will transform the building into a single-level, fully accessible facility. The revised design lowers the current upper level by four feet to align with the first floor and includes an addition to the front of the building. The updated station will also be equipped to house an ambulance to better serve the surrounding community.

Project Update

The renovation of Fire Station 606 is scheduled to take approximately a year to complete. A construction fence will be installed at the end of December, with full construction beginning in January.  To ensure uninterrupted emergency services throughout construction, crews from Fire Station 606 will relocate to a temporary station in mid-December.

Temporary Fire Station 606

Thanks to a valued partnership with Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD), the temporary station will operate from the former Noah building near Miracle League and Cholla Park—just a half-mile from the current station. Renovations to the temporary facility include living quarters for four firefighters, complete with a kitchen, showers, and bunkrooms. A weather-protective enclosure outside will house the fire engine, and during wildfire season, a smaller brush truck may also be stationed on site.

Fire Station Information

Fire Station 606 is home to a fire engine staffed with a four-person crew, consisting of two EMTs and two paramedics. The crew provides all hazards response capabilities and delivers the same level of service consistent with other fire engine companies across Scottsdale. The station’s central location enables rapid response to emergencies throughout its service area.

Public Outreach

An open house was held on Monday, March 25 at the Via Linda Senior Center, 10440 E. Via Linda. Participants received an overview of the project and had the opportunity to provide comments to the design team.
