Project Phase

Project Summary

Scottsdale Water is moving forward with an important infrastructure improvement project in the Sundown Ranchos community. As part of this effort, approximately 25,000 feet of aging 4- and 6-inch water mains will be replaced with new 8-inch mains. The current water mains, which are located in alleyways behind homes, will be relocated to the streets in front of the homes. This change not only modernizes the system but also improves accessibility and long-term reliability.

Project Information

In addition to replacing and relocating the main pipelines, individual water service lines and meters that are currently situated in alleyways will also be moved. These will be connected directly to the new water mains located at the front of each home. This relocation is a critical part of the project and is designed to enhance water service, reduce the risk of water main breaks, and minimize future maintenance disruptions.

By shifting the water infrastructure to the front of properties, the city gains greater operational flexibility, and maintenance crews will have improved access to both water mains and meters. Overall, this project represents a proactive investment in the long-term reliability and performance of Scottsdale’s water system.

For residents whose properties will be affected by the water service line relocations, the city will be reaching out individually to schedule one-on-one meetings. These meetings will provide an opportunity to review the specific work planned for each home and address any questions.

Meetings will be held at the Mountainview Community Center between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the following dates: Aug. 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Maps showing the construction zones and a sample diagram illustrating the updated service line layout are available to help residents understand the changes.
