Program and Jail Compliance
Our Commitment to Accountability
We ensure that all court-ordered requirements—such as screenings, treatment programs, ignition interlock monitoring, confinement compliance, and community restitution—are processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with state and local court rules. Our Compliance Division works closely with judges, probation officers, treatment providers, and court staff to maintain consistent and transparent case management.
What Does our Compliance Division Do?
Program Verification
- Reviewing and documenting proof of completed screenings, treatment programs, progress reports, and completion certificates.
- Confirming that all required program hours, sessions, or days meet court-ordered standards.
- Ensuring out-of-state providers meet the same requirements as approved in-state agencies.
- Confirming subsequent programs recommended after screening are completed.
- Monitoring Non-Compliance - Reviewing reports of missed deadlines, incomplete programs, or insufficient documentation.
- Notifying the appropriate judicial staff when a court appearance or further review is required.
- Coordinating with probation and the prosecutor’s office when non-compliance affects probation conditions.
Ensuring that compliance issues are addressed in concurrent cases when multiple cases share the same program requirements.
Resources
Screening and Program Compliance
For cases requiring a Screening/Program, what do we look for?
When reviewing a screening or program document, the goal is to confirm that all required information is present and determine whether the defendant qualifies for compliance credit.
You may use the following checklist as a reference guide:
- Provider Information
Verify the name of the agency or organization that conducted the screening or program and if ensure the agency used is Arizona Licensed. - Defendant Identification
Confirm the defendant’s full name (first, middle, and last). - Case Identifiers
Ensure the document includes a case number and/or date of birth to accurately match the record. - Program Description
Identify the type of program(s) the defendant is required to complete (e.g., alcohol, drug, substance abuse, domestic violence, anger management). Please note that multiple programs may be required. - Document Type
Determine whether the document is a screening, progress report, final report, or general correspondence. - Recommended Hours
Review how many hours of treatment or education the provider recommends. - Target Completion Date
The Court needs an estimated completion date provided by the agency. - Completion Status & Credit for Compliance
Confirm whether the defendant has completed the program.
A final report typically indicates completion and eligibility for compliance credit. Progress reports or other documents may require additional follow-up before credit is given.
Ignition Interlock Compliance (IID)
If the court ordered you to install an Ignition Interlock Device (IID), you must follow all instructions given in the courtroom and provide proof of compliance.
What you need to do:
- Install the IID in your vehicle as ordered.
- Keep the device installed for the full required time without any gaps.
- Complete all required monitoring and reporting.
- Send Compliance Report to the Court
Documents you must submit to the Court:
- Installation Date: Proof showing when the IID was installed in your vehicle.
- Monthly Progress Reports: Proof for each month the IID was installed and properly maintained.
- Final Completion Date: Proof showing the IID requirement has been completed.
Important:
- Your compliance must be continuous (no breaks or missed months).
- Missing or unclear documents may delay your credit or require additional review.
How to submit your documents:
- Or drop them off at the Scottsdale City Court front counter or drop box.
Community Restitution (Community Service) Compliance
We review and validate documentation for community restitution by confirming:
- The organization is a government agency, nonprofit, or approved religious institution.
- Hours completed match court requirements.
- Documentation includes official letterhead, dates, signatures, and contact information.
- All required terms are satisfied or correctly accounted for.
We also process cases where community restitution is completed in lieu of fines, ensuring eligibility and verifying hours.
Confinement (Jail) Compliance
- Verifies documentation for jail completion from local, county, or out-of-county facilities.
- Ensures confinement is properly credited toward the court-ordered sentence.
- Reviews non-compliance notices, medical refusals, or facility rejections.
- Processes concurrent confinement orders when more than one case is involved.
- Coordinates judicial review when a defendant is on warrant or when acceptance by the court is required.
How We Ensure Accuracy
- Confirm the correct charge is associated with each program or probation requirement.
- Monitor deadlines, future court dates, and judge-ordered appearances.
- Prevent duplicate submissions and maintain a complete compliance record.
- Provide descriptive documentation for all proof submitted.
- Forward unclear, incomplete, or suspicious documentation for judicial review.
Our Goal
To ensure every case is handled with accuracy, fairness, and integrity, while helping individuals understand and meet their court-ordered obligations.
Our Compliance Division supports accountability, promotes successful program completion, and ensures timely communication between the court, defendants, providers, and all justice partners.
