Sports Field Partner Youth Organizations

The City of Scottsdale has partnered with local youth sports organizations to provide organized athletic opportunities for Scottsdale-area youth for decades. Today, the city partners with organizations that offer soccer, baseball, softball, rugby, and lacrosse programs. Through these collaborative partnerships, thousands of Scottsdale youth residents participate in organized sports each season, promoting healthy lifestyles, skill development, teamwork, and community engagement.

Organizations that meet the City’s established criteria can become youth sports partners, providing them with access to the city and select Scottsdale Unified School District athletic fields and discounted rentals rates to support their programs. The Youth Sports Field Allocation Policy underwent an extensive and collaborative review beginning in 2022. Working with the Parks and Recreation Commission, a dedicated working group, and existing partner youth organizations, the department developed a transparent and equitable approach to allocating limited field space while prioritizing Scottsdale residents. Throughout the process, staff met with the partner youth organizations about the proposed policy, understood concerns, and refined the approach based on feedback.

Under the updated Youth Sports Field Allocation Policy, qualified partner youth organizations continue to receive discounted field rates, with field request prioritized first by each organization’s designated primary season, fall or spring, and then by the percentage of Scottsdale residents served by the organization. Youth athletes attending a Scottsdale Unified School District school are considered Scottsdale residents under the policy, recognizing the City’s shared use of athletic fields with the school district. Implementation is underway and the Sports Field Reservation Office staff are continuing to work closely with the partner youth organizations to communicate field allocations, answer questions and address issues that may arise as organizations become familiar with the new process.
