Scottsdale Family Resource Center
The Scottsdale Family Resource Center provides a variety of services free of charge to support families, parents, caregivers, expectant parents and their young children ages birth through age five (not yet in kindergarten).
Located in South Scottsdale at the Paiute Neighborhood Center, the Family Resource Center offers guidance and support for families with young children by providing access to resources, referrals to support services, and educational programs to ensure healthy growth and development for Scottsdale’s youngest learners and their families as they grow and thrive together.

First Things First
Scottsdale Family Resource Center services are provided by First Things First which partners with families and communities to give all Arizona Children the opportunity to arrive at kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed. Learn more at FirstThingsFirst.org.
Events & Programs
Family Play Time
This is a FREE weekly program for parents and caregivers that provides an opportunity to explore and play with your child (ages infant – Pre-K) in a safe, indoor, open play area. We provide developmentally appropriate furniture, materials, and hands-on activities. Families can drop in anytime during the program hours(pre-registration not required).

Ready for School
Parents and caregivers of 3–5-year-olds (not yet in Kindergarten) learn activities they can do at home to help their child develop foundational skills for future success in school. Each participant will receive three children's books, crayon pack, scissors, and a writing journal. Also included is a Family Guide that provides information and activities in all the key areas that helps support learning and development. Books Can...© (Spanish class)
Books Can...© is a unique program based on Arizona's Infant & Toddler Guidelines and Arizona's Early Learning Standards that uses popular picture books, rhymes, songs, and interactive activities to promote children's social and emotional development. Call 480-312-0038 to register.
Length: 1 hour
Class size: limit 8 children (pre-registration required)
Class Schedule: 4 week series | Wednesdays
Dates and Times: August 18 - September 8 | 10 - 11 a.m.
An overview of developmentally appropriate physical, cognitive, social, and emotional milestones from birth – 11 years of age. Learn how to help address key features within each developmental stage as well as practical suggestions to improve communication with young children. Please call 480-312-0038 to register.
September 14 | 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Learn the three innate temperament styles and the traits impacting child and adult behavior. We explain how to adjust parenting styles to meet the needs of each child’s temperament to promote healthy development. Please call 480-312-0038 to register.

Emergency Diaper Assistance
The Scottsdale Family Resource Center offers car seat inspections by appointment. A certified technician will inspect your car seat and show you how to install it. A limited number of car seats are available free of charge for Scottsdale residents that meet income guidelines. Call 480-312-0038 to make an appointment.
Parent Advisory Committee
The Scottsdale Family Resource Center Parent Advisory Committee is made up of parents and caregivers of the SFRC community to provide support to the Scottsdale Family Resource Center in its mission of supporting families to build a strong and vibrant parent and caregiver community. The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meets monthly and provides input to the Scottsdale Family Resource Center on designing programs and services that meet the needs of families in Scottsdale.
Donations of NEW baby items for Scottsdale families may be made by contacting the Scottsdale Family Resource Center at 480-312-0038 or ScottsdaleFamilyResourceCenter@ScottsdaleAZ.gov. Needed items include:
- new unopened diapers and wipes
- new unopened containers of formula and baby food
- new car seats
