A number of changes are coming to the city-owned site at 86th Street and Thomas Road that includes Pima Park and the Central Groundwater Treatment Facility. The city has obtained the large vacant parcel to the east of the park and plans to build a new water treatment facility and a storm water retention basin. Additionally, minor changes are being proposed for Pima Park.
Project elements include:
- Construction of the new Thomas Groundwater Treatment Facility to enhance water quality.
- Improvements to the Central Groundwater Treatment Facility to improve operational efficiencies.
- New stormwater retention basins as part of the Granite Reef Watershed project in order to protect area residents from major storm events.
