Water Efficiency Workshops

Scottsdale Water offers free water efficiency workshops designed to help residents learn how to use water more efficiently in their homes and yards. 

Please note, online registration is REQUIRED for all guided Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden Tours. For other workshops, those who register are guaranteed a spot and registration is highly encouraged. Walk-ins will be accommodated as space allows.

Plant Something and have color year round

Why not be surrounded by color year-round? Landscape plants provide color through different seasons.  Learn how to complement their function in your garden, and fill periodic color gaps, in fun and bright ways to keep your landscape vibrant throughout the year.

Plant Something and nourish it with rainwater harvesting

An expert from Watershed Management Group will teach you how to use passive rainwater harvesting to create a series of berms, basins, and swales that will direct rainwater to beneficial use for plants while reducing flooding and erosion in your yard. Learn how these practices will slow the flow of the water, spread it across the areas where it's needed, and sink it into the ground.

Plant Something and design and install drip irrigation to water it

Simple things you need to know to make your drip irrigation system efficient and easy to maintain. Irrigation Specialist Jeff Lee will show you how to design and install a drip irrigation system.

Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden Tour at Chaparral Park (Choose one tour date) - BOTH TOURS FULL

Take a walking tour (2 miles) through the Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden at Chaparral Park. See water-thrifty plants in action and have your desert plant questions answered by an expert.

Date: Saturday, October 26, 2019 OR Friday, November 1, 2019
Time: 10 a.m. to noon
Location: Scottsdale Xeriscape Garden, SE corner of Hayden Road & McDonald Drive near the dog parklinks to external site

Please park near Chaparral Dog Park. Do not park at the Chaparral Water Treatment Plant.

Follow the signs to meet at Shady Terrace (the big shade sails) pictured below.

There will be signs posted around the parking lot near the dog park, softball fields and walking paths that will help direct you to the appropriate meeting location.

Remember to bring water, a hat and sunscreen.
