March 27, 2024 Homicide Investigation

76-year-old Timothy Rexford Grant has been arrested, accused of fatally stabbing his roommate on March 27 around 4:15 p.m. at their residence near McKellips Road and Hayden Road. A neighbor called 911 at the Riviera Mobile Home Park. Grant stayed on scene and was detained by responding police. The victim was transported to the hospital but did not survive his injuries. 

Police and fire crews responded to the mobile home park around 4:20 p.m. and discovered 69-year-old David Ricks with knife wounds inside the residence. Ricks was initially treated by police and fire personnel at the residence before being transported to the hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at 5:47 p.m.

Timothy Grant remained at the scene and spoke with police. He indicated the stabbing occurred during a physical altercation that escalated from a verbal argument between him and David Ricks. The two have been roommates for over 10 years. This was an isolated incident that occurred inside their residence.  

Timothy Grant was ultimately booked in the Maricopa County Jail for one count of Manslaughter ARS 13-1103.A1.
