Celebrate safely: fireworks restrictions in place to prevent wildfires and protect Scottsdale’s desert areas. The potential for a major wildland fire incident is present in Scottsdale throughout most of the year. The threat increases dramatically during the summer months, and often peaks around the 4th of July holiday, when the highest sales and use of consumer fireworks is expected. Although use of some consumer fireworks is permitted by state law in Scottsdale, their use in and near many sensitive desert areas remains illegal and violators are subject to substantial fines.
Fire officials prefer fireworks be left to professional shows, which have safety personnel onsite to immediately address fire issues. Use of fireworks is prohibited in Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Pinnacle Peak Park and all properties located within one mile of these fragile desert lands. The use of fireworks also is prohibited on all publicly owned properties, which include but are not limited to, city buildings, city parking lots, city parks, public schools and city streets. Get more information about firework restrictions and safety.
A person who uses, discharges or ignites consumer fireworks is liable for any expenses associated with the fire loss or emergency response that results from the use of these devices. We suggest you leave fireworks to the professionals - celebrate with us at the July 4th Celebration at WestWorld.
Most city offices and facilities will be closed Friday, July 4, for Independence Day. Trash and recycling collection is not affected. Place your containers in their usual spot by 5 a.m. the morning of collection or the night before.
The Scottsdale Trolley will not operate on Independence Day. Valley Metro bus, light rail and streetcar will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday, July 4.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
Scottsdale Food Bank has expanded its services and relocated to a larger facility to better meet the needs of the community. Now operating from a new 5,066-square-foot warehouse at 7601 E. McKellips Road, the food bank has more than tripled its capacity — serving up to 20 households daily, compared to just six at its former Vista del Camino Community Center location.
The new facility supports expanded partnerships with St. Mary’s Food Bank, St. Vincent de Paul and local grocery stores, allowing for a wider variety of fresh food offerings. In fiscal year 2024-25, the food bank distributed nearly $1 million worth of food, up from $640,000 the year before — a number expected to rise with the enhanced space.
