Government 202: Understanding your city’s finances. Get a clear look at how Scottsdale manages our funding sources. Join us for an overview of the City Treasurer’s Office, learn how your tax dollars are being spent and gain practical insight into the city budget, revenue sources, and spending priorities. End the session with an interactive activity where you get to decide how you would choose to divide up the city’s money. Perfect for residents who want to be informed, engaged, and ready to participate.

The city has installed 45 new ADA-compliant curb ramps in Old Town as part of its ongoing commitment to accessibility and mobility for all residents and visitors. The upgrades are part of a citywide initiative to modernize pedestrian infrastructure and ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These improvements come within the larger context of a comprehensive update to Scottsdale’s ADA Transition Plan, a federal requirement to continually identify and remove barriers to accessibility and participation. ADA Transition Plan Community Meeting Monday, Oct. 20
The city will host a community meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at the Mountain View Community Center, 8625 E. Mountain View Road, to hear from disability advocates and residents about accessibility in Scottsdale. Residents are encouraged to attend to offer feedback about their experiences with city facilities and programs. Additionally, residents can offer input about the city’s ADA Transition Plan Update at SpeakUpScottsdale.com.
Participate in an interactive community walking assessment to help shape Scottsdale’s Transportation Safety Plan. Join your neighbors for a fun and informative event and learn more about how walking, bicycling, and driving can be safer activities in Scottsdale. During the walking tours, participants will be asked to share their insights on area transportation improvements and infrastructure – what’s working and areas for improvement. Participants will meet at locations throughout the city before setting out on 45-minute walks followed by brief feedback sessions.
The walks will be led by Dan Burden, a nationally recognized leader in walkability, traffic calming and street design. All ages and abilities are welcomed; minor children must be accompanied by an adult. Participation in the walking assessment is free; however registration is required. Barrett-Jackson Fall Auction. The Barrett-Jackson Fall Auction returns to WestWorld, where guests can witness the high-energy bidding action, explore an impressive lineup of collector cars, and even bid on the vehicle of their dreams. The event also features celebrity appearances, a bustling Exhibitor Marketplace, and a wide variety of indoor and outdoor dining options.

Scottsdale Fall Festival. The annual Scottsdale Fall Festival moves to Scottsdale Civic Center with free fun for all ages. Families can enjoy live music, a DJ, a magic show, carnival games, crafts, Trick-or-Treat Alley, a Pumpkin Patch, and more. New this year is a cocktail garden for adults, plus city department booths where residents can connect with staff. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

Halloween Spook-Track-ula. Stop in for a spell as the Paradise & Pacific Railroad is transformed into a haunted park of fun for Scottsdale Parks & Recreation’s annual Halloween Spook-Track-ula at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park! This family-friendly event, featuring a spooky train ride, takes place 6-9:30 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 31.
Spook-Track-ula concludes Oct. 31 with a free special trick-or-treating night in the park’s Desert Arboretum, where kids can collect sweet treats in a festive, safe, family-friendly setting from 4 to 9:30 p.m.
Explore galleries during Scottsdale ArtWalk. Scottsdale is home to more than 100 galleries, dedicated to exhibiting the finest visual art from around the world and locally. Stroll at your own pace. 7-9 p.m. Thursdays. Specialty-themed Gold Palette ArtWalks are held 6:30-9 p.m. about once a month.

Neighborhood College: HOA/Condominium Board Roundtable. Please note: This is for board members of HOA and condominium associations only. This one-hour session will have a special guest in the first 30 minutes and for the second, we'll talk about what you want, and we'll brainstorm solutions together! Artists wanted! Bring holiday cheer to Old Town with Scottsdale’s Tinsel Trail. The city of Scottsdale is excited to launch Tinsel Trail as part of this year’s Scottsdazzle holiday spectacular. Old Town’s first window painting program will feature storefronts temporarily painted with holiday scenes. The initiative unites the community by promoting local artists, showcasing Old Town businesses and enhancing the visitors’ experience in Old Town during the holiday season. Local artists are invited to apply for this unique opportunity to bring holiday cheer to Old Town.
