Most city offices and facilities will be closed Monday, May 26, for Memorial Day. Recycling and garbage collection will not be affected. Place your containers out by 5 a.m. the morning of collection or the evening before.
Join local veterans’ organizations Memorial Day to honor those who lost their lives in military service. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, at the Scottsdale Memorial for the Fallen, located adjacent to the Chaplain sculpture on the Civic Center Memorial Lawn, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.
Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky is hosting a town hall meeting. Residents are encouraged to attend the free event to ask questions and discuss important issues facing the community. The free town hall takes place 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Mustang Library, 10101 N. 90th St.
Residents can submit questions in advance to the Mayor’s Chief of Staff Terrance Thornton or bring their questions to the event.
Scottsdale hosts community open house to advance citywide accessibility efforts. The city of Scottsdale will host the Accessible Scottsdale Community Open House, an event where community members can learn about the city’s efforts to complete a self-assessment as part of updating Scottsdale's ADA Transition Plan. The open house takes place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, in Room 2 at the Granite Reef Senior Center, 1700 N. Granite Reef Road. This event offers an opportunity for people to share their experiences and provide input that will shape the future of accessibility in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale is working with a team of experts to update its ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. This comprehensive project will evaluate city buildings, sidewalks, intersections and programs to identify and develop a plan to remove barriers to access. The plan ensures that city properties and programs are accessible for all residents and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Scottsdale’s code enforcement team joins police department to strengthen community impact. This strategic shift, effective June 1, will improve efficiency, reduce duplication of efforts, and provide additional support through the resources and command structure of the police department.
The realignment brings the city’s 19-member Code Enforcement team under the umbrella of Scottsdale Police, allowing for a more coordinated response to quality-of-life issues such as property maintenance, zoning violations and public nuisance complaints.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
Learn how to convert your grass to xeriscape. Scottsdale Water Conservation staff will share best practices for removing grass and converting your irrigation system from sprinklers to drip. The city of Scottsdale’s grass removal rebate terms will be covered as well as a discussion on proper plants to include in your conversion project.

Attend a community meeting to kick off the design process for the Brown Avenue Parking Structure Expansion. The meeting will take place at 8:30 a.dm. Thursday, May 22, at the Civic Center Library Auditorium, 3839 N. Drinkwater Blvd.
This project will expand the city-owned parking structure at First Street and Brown Avenue by adding two levels of parking. Participants at the meeting can meet the project team, learn more about the process and share elements they would like to see in the upgraded structure.
The Old Town Farmers Market is currently held at this location – and will continue here through the 2025/2026 season, when construction preparations on the site are expected to begin.
Scottsdale is working with the Old Town Farmer’s Market to identify a new location in Old Town where it can continue to operate after this project begins.
