HEADLINE NEWS

A pavement improvement project will close Scottsdale Road between Loop 101 and Thompson Peak Parkway from June 27-30. Work will begin 9 p.m. Friday, June 27, and is expected to be completed by 5 a.m. Monday, June 30. North and southbound travel lanes will be closed during construction. Please follow detour signs and use caution when traveling near the closure area. For complete information and schedule details call the project hotline, 480-898-4100.

Celebrate the 4th of July at WestWorld. Get ready for a fun evening of live entertainment and family-friendly activities inside the air conditioned coolness of WestWorld’s North Hall as Scottsdale gears up for this annual celebration. Taking place from 5-9 p.m. Friday, July 4, the festivities will culminate with one of the largest fireworks displays in Arizona in the skies above WestWorld. PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Extreme Heat & Hands Only CPR. A mountain lion was recently spotted in the area near and around the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead. While sightings like this are rare, it is a good reminder that we share our desert home with a variety of wildlife, including Arizona’s native big cat.

To reduce the threat of wildfire, Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve will close at noon on July 4. All trailheads into the preserve will have "closed" signs posted.

Scottsdale police, city staff, and stewards will patrol the area to advise visitors about the closure and fire threat. Violating the closure is a misdemeanor punishable by up to four months in jail and a $750 fine. The preserve will re-open around 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 5.

Pinnacle Peak Park, 26802 N. 102nd Way, will be open from 5 a.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. For more information, contact staff at 480-312-0990.
