Bond 2019 projects continue advancing across Scottsdale

Scottsdale continues to make steady progress on its voter-approved 2019 bond program, with 26 projects completed to date and dozens more underway or in development.

In 2025, several high-profile projects reached completion, including Fire Station 612, a new splash pad at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, Ashler Hills Park and the new Police and Fire Training facilities. These projects represent major investments in public safety, recreation and community amenities.

Nine additional projects are currently under construction or in the implementation phase. These include the installation of citywide fiber optic infrastructure designed to reduce long-term operating costs, a multi-year effort to repair lakes and irrigation systems at Vista del Camino Park in the Indian Bend Wash, and the renovation of the Via Linda Police Station.

Scottsdale’s Fiscal Year 2025/26 budget authorizes $134.7 million in funding for voter-approved bond projects. This funding supports continued progress for projects in planning, design and construction.

“We are excited to continue advancing these important projects that will enhance the quality of life for Scottsdale residents,” said City Manager Greg Caton. “The approved budget allows us to stay on track and fulfill our commitment to improving the city’s infrastructure and public amenities.”

An additional 11 projects are currently in the design phase. These include renovations to the Fire Station at 90th Street and Via Linda, an expansion of the Brown Avenue Parking Structure in Old Town Scottsdale and construction of the Thompson Peak Parkway Bridge over Reata Pass Wash, which is scheduled to begin in 2026.

In addition, several voter-approved bond projects remain in the planning stage or are scheduled for construction in future years as part of the city’s long-term implementation plan.

The city’s Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee meets quarterly to review project funding and monitor progress.

In November 2019, Scottsdale voters approved three bond questions totaling $319 million to fund 58 projects citywide. In February 2020, the City Council adopted an implementation plan to complete the projects over several years. Bonds are issued in phases as projects advance and funds are needed.

To date, one project has been eliminated from the bond program after the city determined the data could be obtained at no cost, making the project unnecessary.
