The Scottsdale Water Citizen Academy provides an inside look at all aspects of your city’s water utility, which happens to
be one of the most advanced municipal water systems in the country.
The five-week course* will take you inside our state-of-the-art facilities, demonstrate daily operations from
lab work to water main repair, and explain all facets of Scottsdale Water operations, planning and policies. Topics covered include drinking water treatment and distribution, water quality testing, recycled water treatment and uses and long-term water supply planning.
During the fifth night of the academy, participants tour Scottsdale's Advanced Water Treatment Facility – the only direct potable reuse plant in Arizona (and one of only three in the country) – and participate in a taste test of ultrapure recycled water!
Registration for the Spring 2020 will occur in February. Space in the academy is limited and registration fills quickly. To be alerted when registration opens, please email WaterAcademy@ScottsdaleAZ.gov.
Spring academy dates:
Wednesday nights*, March 25 through April 29
4:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Scottsdale Water Campus
*The academy is a five week session. To accommodate religious holidays, the Spring 2020 academy will skip the night of Wednesday, April 8, so the five-week course will be held over a six-week period. Participants must attend at least four nights to graduate from the program.
