Water Citizen Academy

The Scottsdale Water Citizen Academy provides an inside look at all aspects of the Scottsdale Water utility, which happens to be one of the most advanced municipal water systems in the country.

Course overview

The five-week course takes participants inside our state-of-the-art facilities, demonstrates daily operations from lab work to water main repair, and explains all facets of Scottsdale Water operations, planning and policies. Topics covered include drinking water treatment and distribution, water quality testing, recycled water treatment and uses and long-term water supply planning.

Citizen Academy Water

During the fifth night of the academy, participants tour Scottsdale's Advanced Water Treatment Facility – the only direct potable reuse plant in Arizona (and one of only three in the country) – and participate in a taste test of ultrapure recycled water!
