Net Generation Junior Tennis

Net Generation (NetGen) junior tennis program, spreads the love of tennis to a new generation to teach the whole person to become the best they can be on the court and in life.

Ready to get started?

Tennis can seem intimidating at times – NetGen breaks everything down into 4 easy levels or 'colors'. Each color represents the type of tennis ball used and level of coaching. On the court, your child's coach will group together similar skill levels within each color.

Scottsdale Ranch Park Junior Program:

The program follows an adaptable curriculum through USTA's Net Generation Program (NetGeneration.com). Instruction will focus on fundamentals, empowerment, unity, and fair play and teaches the Whole child (person, athlete and tennis player). Player levels will be determined by the tennis instructor during the early weeks of the session. Players new to the program shall be registered by age, a "Stars" activity on the Play Path. Movement to higher level classes will be approved by the junior instruction staff during and after evaluation in the program.

Indian School Park Tennis Center Junior Program:

The program utilizes principles of the USTA's Net Generation Program yet does not strictly or solely follow the curriculum. This program focuses on basics, fundamentals and fun. This is a Recreational junior tennis program not geared toward competition. Players shall register by age and participate based upon age and tennis ball color. This program is for ages 7-12 (as of Spring 2021).

The ISP junior program collaborates with Toscano Tennis Academy. This program is Indian School Park's program, all registrations and management of the program are through ISP and the COS.

Red Ball - ages 5-8

Played on a smaller court (36'x18'), Red is the best place to start for kids just starting off. The softest ball in the program, red will bounce lower and travel slower than usual. This, plus the smaller court allow for a fun and welcoming environment where coaches will break down skills into fun activities for kids to learn the fundamentals of tennis.

Orange Ball - ages 9-10

Played on a slightly larger court (60'x21'), Orange is well suited to kids starting to turn their fundamentals into skills. Orange will bounce higher and travel faster than red. With the larger court kids can begin to put everything together and translate fundamentals into skills.

Green Ball - ages 11-12

Played on a full-size court (78'x27'), Green is the last step before graduating to standard tennis equipment and rules. Here children will apply their fundamental skills to game conditions, and begin to learn strategy and skills that accompany full tennis matches.

Yellow Ball - ages 13+

Also played on a full-size court (78'x27'), Yellow uses standard tennis equipment and rules. Here children will begin organized match play, honing their skills against opponents in their age group.
