Scottsdale voters encouraged to prepare for July 21 Primary Election

City News

Scottsdale voters are encouraged to plan now for the city's Primary Election on Tuesday, July 21, when residents will choose three members of the Scottsdale City Council.

The election gives Scottsdale voters the opportunity to help shape the city's future by selecting the leaders who will serve on the City Council. Eight candidates have qualified to appear on the ballot for the three available council seats:

  • Crystal Carroll
  • Barry Graham
  • Ethan Knowlden
  • Bob Littlefield
  • Eric Sloan
  • Michelle Ugenti-Rita
  • Solange Whitehead
  • Raoul Zubia

Under the Scottsdale City Charter, council candidates may be elected outright during the Primary Election if they receive the required number of votes. If all three seats are not filled, the six candidates receiving the highest number of votes will advance to the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Residents who still have an early ballot are encouraged to return it as soon as possible. Tuesday, July 14, was the recommended last day to mail an early ballot to help ensure it arrives in time to be counted. Voters should return their ballot to an official ballot drop box or vote in person at any Maricopa County voting center.

Voting centers will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21. Maricopa County voters may cast a ballot at any voting center in the county, regardless of their assigned precinct.

Before Election Day, voters are encouraged to:

  • Verify their voter registration status.
  • Review candidate information.
  • Decide whether to vote by mail or in person.
  • Locate a convenient voting center or ballot drop box.
