Scottsdale prepared for drought with established water management plan.

Scottsdale is reminding residents that it has a long-established Drought Management Plan in place to guide the city’s response if regional water shortages impact supplies from the Central Arizona Project. As drought conditions persist across the Colorado River Basin and new water-sharing agreements are being negotiated for after 2026, the city continues to closely monitor changing conditions and prepare for potential reductions in Colorado River water deliveries. The plan outlines a phased response that includes conservation measures, public education, water-use monitoring and, if necessary, temporary restrictions or water shortage surcharges, with more significant actions requiring City Council approval. Scottsdale’s Drought Management Team would coordinate any response efforts, prioritizing public health, safety, economic vitality and reliable drinking water service. Residents are encouraged to continue practicing water conservation and stay informed as regional water conditions and negotiations evolve.
