City News

Scottsdale has selected Holly Peralta as the city’s new senior director of communications, following a competitive recruitment process.

Peralta brings more than two decades of communications experience and has served the city of Scottsdale for more than 13 years in progressively responsible communications leadership roles. She most recently served as interim senior director, leading the department while overseeing media relations, executive communications, strategic communications, employee communications, marketing and digital communications.

As senior director, Peralta will lead the city’s Office of Communications, which serves as the central communications resource for the organization and supports city leadership, departments, employees, residents and community stakeholders.

“Holly has consistently demonstrated strategic leadership, sound judgment and a deep commitment to public service,” said City Manager Greg Caton. “She understands Scottsdale, has earned the trust of leaders across the organization and brings a strong vision for the future of communications. Her ability to build relationships, navigate complex issues and develop talented teams made her the clear choice to lead this important function.”

Peralta’s career in local government communications began with the city of Mesa, where she worked in public safety and economic development communications. She later joined Scottsdale and has played a key role in communicating many of the city’s most significant initiatives, including public safety programs, water resource planning, transportation projects, economic development efforts, tourism initiatives, voter-approved bond projects and major community events.

Throughout her career, Peralta has helped strengthen the city’s communications capabilities while supporting executive leadership, departments and employees during periods of growth and organizational transition.

“I am honored by the opportunity to serve Scottsdale in this capacity,” said Peralta. “This community has been an important part of my professional journey, and I am grateful for the trust placed in me by City Manager Greg Caton and the executive leadership team. Scottsdale has an exceptional story to tell, and I look forward to continuing to support the outstanding work being done across the organization.”

An Arizona native, Peralta began her career as a journalist before transitioning into public sector communications. She graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism and later earned a master's degree in counseling and human relations from Northern Arizona University.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Peralta has remained actively engaged in community and nonprofit service. She previously served as communications chair for the board of the Lymphoma Research Foundation and has served on the boards of the Arizona Museum of Natural History and the Ross Farnsworth-East Valley Family YMCA. She is also a graduate of Scottsdale Leadership, Class 31.

As senior director, Peralta will focus on strengthening strategic communications, advancing brand governance, supporting accessibility initiatives and continuing to develop the next generation of communications professionals.

The appointment continues Scottsdale's commitment to clear, transparent and resident-focused communications that support the city's mission of delivering exceptional public service and maintaining its reputation as one of the nation's premier communities.
