Run the Runway returns to Scottsdale Airport Oct. 25
Runners and families can race along Scottsdale Airport’s taxiways and ramp when Run the Runway returns Sunday, Oct. 25.
Presented by Volanti and PHX Run Club, the event features a 5K open to all ages and a one-mile Kids Fun Run for children ages 12 and younger. A post-race festival will include an aircraft display and entertainment.
“Run the Runway gives families a unique way to experience Scottsdale Airport while supporting local youth and students pursuing aviation careers,” said Deputy City Manager Judy Doyle. “It’s an opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate our aviation history and enjoy a morning of fun.”
Gates open at 7:30 a.m. at Scottsdale Airport, 15000 N. Airport Drive. A stretching session with Lululemon begins at 8 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8:30 a.m. and the Kids Fun Run at 9:30 a.m.
Registration costs $50 for the 5K and $30 for the Kids Fun Run, plus fees. Each participant receives a race shirt, finisher medal and post-race refreshments. Online registration is available through Oct. 24 at RunTheRunwayAZ.org. Space is limited, and participants are encouraged to register early.
Proceeds benefit two local nonprofit organizations:
Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial Inc. preserves Scottsdale’s aviation history, honors veterans and awards scholarships to students pursuing careers in aviation and aerospace.
Opportunity 4 Kids helps Arizona youth in need participate in summer camps, after-school programs and extracurricular activities by providing financial assistance, equipment, uniforms and other resources.
