Scottsdale, Arizona (May 6, 2026) An adult male remains hospitalized with critical injuries following an officer-involved shooting that occurred while Scottsdale Police officers were investigating a shots-fired call near Miller Road and Camelback Road.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, Scottsdale Police received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired at the Circle K convenience store located at the intersection of Camelback Road and Miller Road. Responding officers arrived and confirmed that multiple rounds had been fired, with several bullets striking the business.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., while officers were actively investigating the initial incident, additional gunshots were heard east of the original scene at a nearby apartment complex. During the search for victims and suspects in the surrounding area, Scottsdale Police received a 911 call from a resident near 4600 N. 76th St., reporting that multiple individuals had jumped a fence and were running through her yard. Responding detectives encountered a male fleeing the area. During the encounter, the suspect reached toward his waistband, at which time the officer-involved shooting occurred.

Following the shooting, the suspect jumped over a fence into a neighboring residential yard, where he was taken into custody, and a handgun was located. Detectives immediately rendered lifesaving aid, and the suspect was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. No community members or Scottsdale Police personnel were injured during the incident.

Scottsdale Police detectives are continuing to investigate the original shots-fired incidents at the Circle K and the surrounding area, as well as the events leading up to the officer-involved shooting. In accordance with the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team (EVCIRT) protocol, the Mesa Police Department will conduct an independent investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

Additionally, Scottsdale Police Internal Affairs will conduct an administrative review of the use of force to ensure compliance with department policies and standards. The involved employee has been placed on temporary Post-Critical Incident Leave and has been offered departmental peer support resources.
