Suspect Arrested in Scottsdale July 4 Burglary After Fleeing Police
31-year-old Jeremy Dykstra was arrested by Scottsdale Police over the weekend for burglarizing a home in the area of 11400 E Black Rock Rd in Scottsdale on July 4, 2025. The burglary involved $27,500 in jewelry, handbags, and electronics. Most of the stolen items were recovered during the investigation.
On July 4, Scottsdale Police responded to a residence in the area of 11400 E Black Rock Rd for a burglary in progress. An adult family member was inside the residence when the burglary occurred. The homeowners were not present at the time. A family member told police he was at the home when he observed a man, later identified as Jeremy Dykstra, walk in front of a window. As the family member went to leave the residence, Dykstra had parked a vehicle in the driveway, blocking the garage. Shortly after, the family member heard a window break and ran to the neighbors to call 911.
Upon the officers' arrival at the residence, Dykstra was behind the wheel of a car in the driveway. Officers attempted to block the car using a patrol vehicle, but Dykstra drove away from the scene at a high rate of speed, hitting a responding officer's car. In doing so, two officers who were on foot and not in a vehicle were nearly hit by the car Dykstra was driving.
Other responding officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which had the license plate covered up. Out of interest in public safety, the pursuit was terminated, as the fleeing vehicle drove at excessive speeds and even drove the wrong way into oncoming traffic.
Through investigative means, the driver was identified as 31-year-old Jeremy Dykstra. On July 20, Scottsdale detectives arrested Dykstra at 10400 N Black Canyon Highway without incident. A search warrant was served at the hotel room where he was staying, and evidence of the burglary was located inside. Detectives located evidence that Dykstra was pawning items from the burglary.
Jeremy Dykstra was booked into Maricopa County Jail for burglary 2nd degree, two counts of trafficking in stolen property, aggravated assault, unlawful flight from law enforcement, hit and run, and reckless driving.
