Shop Scottsdale Saturday Set to Ignite Holiday Shopping in Old Town

Scottsdale’s small businesses primed for Shop Scottsdale Saturday Nov. 29

Hundreds of businesses are ready for shoppers and diners looking for holiday gifts and destinations for their seasonal celebrations.

With 320 retailers, 100 restaurants and more than 50 galleries, “Old Town is primarily all local businesses and shoppers can look to them for discounts and deals,” said Angelica Cipullo, marketing program manager for the city of Scottsdale.

“Old Town Scottsdale is a great place to do all your holiday shopping and a great place to shop local and a great way to promote a thriving economy,” said Cipullo.

Shop Scottsdale Saturday coincides with the Jingle & Jazz Tree Lighting Spectacular, the signature event kicking off Scottsdazzle, the city’s award-winning community event. Many local retailers will have booths or pop-up events for the celebrations.

As part of a new holiday tradition, 12 Old Town storefronts will get a festive transformation as part of the Tinsel Trail – Holiday Window Program. This program pairs local artists with businesses to decorate their windows to celebrate Scottsdale’s culture and holiday spirit.

Filling the air with holiday charm, the Jingle Belles will perform throughout the 5th Avenue Shopping District and Historic Old from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Local dollars matter to Old Town Scottsdale merchants

“Supporting local small businesses means you are supporting the engine that creates two-thirds of net jobs and employs nearly 43% of the state’s workforce,” said City Manager Greg Caton. “For every $100 spent with a local business, an average of 68% of that money stays in the local community.”

Small businesses are operated by community members who sponsor youth sports, donate to nonprofits and support local events. They sustain local jobs, strengthen Scottsdale’s economy and help preserve the city’s character.

Old Town shops offer great deals for Shop Scottsdale Saturday and beyond, including:

  • Gorgeous Things offers a week of rewards with spending beginning Monday, Nov. 24.  The more you spend the bigger the reward: Spend $100, get $20 off deal that incrementally increases the more you spend.
  • Scottsdale Southwest will offer a gift with purchase of $100 or more throughout the Scottsdazzle season.
  • Mention “Scottsdazzle” and shoppers at Quantum Art can get 15% off purchases throughout the Scottsdazzle season.

In addition to the deals, the two Ambassador Information Carts will be handing out a gift with purchase, while supplies last.

Everything purchased in a local Scottsdale business is both a gift to loved ones and a gift to the community.
