Scottsdale’s signature events return this season

Warm sunshine, crisp desert nights and nationally renowned events make Scottsdale a must-visit destination this time of year.

January and February bring a packed calendar of can’t-miss experiences, from Western heritage to championship golf and spring baseball. Here’s a look at what’s ahead.

Western Week | Now through Feb. 1

Old Town Scottsdale comes alive with cowboy culture during Western Week. A highlight returns Friday, Jan. 30, when the Pony Express rides into town carrying pen pal letters exchanged by schoolchildren across Arizona. More than 20 riders from the Navajo County Sheriff’s Posse make the journey from Holbrook as part of this cherished tradition.

The iconic Parada del Sol Historic Parade takes place Jan. 31, filling the streets with colorful floats, mounted riders, horse-drawn wagons and marching bands. Immediately following the parade, the Trail's End Festival offers live music, food and family-friendly activities, along with free admission to Western Spirit: Scottsdale's Museum of the West.

The Arizona Indian Festival is held Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, celebrating Arizona’s Indigenous communities through traditional arts, crafts, performances and cuisine.

WM Phoenix Open | Feb. 2–8

"The Greatest Show on Grass" returns to TPC Scottsdale in early February. The week begins with Concert in the Coliseum on Jan. 31, featuring The Killers performing on the famed 16th hole. Tournament play runs Feb. 2–8, with free admission during practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 2–3. Ticketed rounds follow throughout the week, including the Annexus Pro-Am and championship weekend.

TPC Scottsdale, a city-owned course, has hosted the Phoenix Open since 1987. Organized by Thunderbirds Charities, the tournament draws hundreds of thousands of fans annually and raises millions for local nonprofit organizations.
