Scottsdale’s 2025 Spring Training season saw big crowds and generated $1.4 million for local nonprofits

Scottsdale Stadium welcomed nearly 140,000 fans during the 2025 Spring Training season according to the Cactus League, marking its highest attendance since 2019.

The 15-game season showcased improvements to the stadium’s Left Field berm, where fans experienced a new shaded patio area and expanded trees (and shade) across the outfield lawn.

“We are thrilled with how the new enhancements elevated the fan experience,” said Judy Doyle, Scottsdale’s senior director of enterprise operations. “These upgrades were designed to improve functionality and comfort—and we’re seeing that they’ve done exactly that.”

The renovations are part of a phased modernization plan that began in the 2019 offseason, with the goal of maintaining Scottsdale Stadium’s status as a leading venue in the Cactus League. The stadium's proximity to Old Town Scottsdale continues to enhance its draw for both out-of-town visitors and local fans.

“The San Francisco Giants deeply value our decades-long relationship with the city of Scottsdale and the Scottsdale Charros, who have built the foundation that has allowed all of us to deliver a world-class Spring Training baseball experience to the Scottsdale community,” said Sara Grauf, senior vice president of experience development for the San Francisco Giants.

“We are committed to continuing that tradition by providing fans with an unforgettable experience and enhancing Scottsdale Stadium through ongoing improvements that make it an even greater place to enjoy Giants baseball.”

Behind the scenes, the Scottsdale Charros — a fixture of local baseball since 1961 — turned game-day energy into community impact. While fans often see the Charros hosting guests in the Charro Lodge or selling programs and 50/50 raffle tickets on the concourse, their work extends far beyond game day.

Through Spring Training operations and year-round programs, the Charros and the Charro Foundation contributed nearly $1.4 million to organizations and initiatives benefiting residents citywide. More than 100 local organizations received funding, including 100 Club of Arizona, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, Family Promise, Scottsdale Arts and Scottsdale Community Partners.

“The Scottsdale Charros have maintained a 63-year partnership with the City of Scottsdale at Scottsdale Stadium,” said Charros Executive Director Dennis Robbins. “This helps the Charros raise essential funds for local charities and public education. Additionally, our collaboration with the San Francisco Giants enhances our capacity to direct resources to where they are most needed. We are proud to continue serving our community through the wonderful game of baseball.”

“We are honored to continue this longstanding partnership with the San Francisco Giants and the Charros,” said City Manager Greg Caton. “Scottsdale Stadium is an example of the city strategically investing in a community facility that generates significant economic impact. This is well-run operation, and partnership, that is great for residents to enjoy and a tourism driver for the community.”

With its prime Old Town location, upgraded amenities, and a partnership that blends sport with service, Scottsdale Stadium continues to be a home run. The stadium's performance this season reinforces the value of ongoing investment in public facilities that serve both residents and tourism.
