Old Town hits a home run with Arizona Fall League

City News

Baseball’s future stars are heading to Scottsdale Stadium this fall, giving fans a chance to catch rising talent and explore Old Town before or after a game.

The Arizona Fall League runs Oct. 3 through Nov. 12 at six ballparks across the Valley. A proving ground for top Major League Baseball prospects, the league offers fans an early look at players working toward the big leagues.

Scottsdale Stadium will host 15 Scottsdale Scorpions home games, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. This year’s roster includes prospects from the San Francisco Giants, Milwaukee Brewers, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays. Tickets are $14, plus fees.

“Fall baseball is a great reason to catch a game in Scottsdale,” said City Manager Greg Caton. “Fans can watch some of the game’s most promising young players, then enjoy the restaurants, shops and galleries just steps from the stadium. We’re excited to welcome them and help them discover more of Old Town.”

Located at 7408 E. Osborn Road, Scottsdale Stadium is the spring training home of the San Francisco Giants and a year-round venue for community gatherings, private celebrations and corporate events. Its Old Town location puts visitors near dining, shopping and cultural destinations.
