NO ILLEGAL DUMPING SIGNS

Scottsdale Revised Code Section 19-36 (a) – Criminal Littering

The City of Scottsdale does not supply No Illegal Dumping Signs to the public. Property owners may purchase No Illegal Dumping Signs online, from a home improvement retail store, or from a sign shop. The sign must reference Scottsdale Revised Code Section 19-36 (a) and state Private Property so that it can be enforced by code enforcement.

No Illegal Dumping Sign Standards
Placement
  • On private property only
  • Prohibited in the right-of-way and on city property (such as light poles)
  • Owner or responsible party must install signs at all common or reasonable entrances to the property.
  • It is recommended that all signs be installed with permanent screws to prevent easy removal and placed high enough on a building wall or fence from ground level to discourage removal or graffiti.
  • Signs shall be placed in a manner that does not create a traffic hazard; or obstruct a public or private sidewalk, trail, or pedestrian pathway.
Construction
  • Metal or high density plastic.
Area
  • At least 18 inches by 24 inches, not to exceed 6 square feet.
Height
  • Mounted on a building, fence or block wall: not to exceed 6 feet from grade to the top of the sign.
  • NO freestanding: on a metal post or stake.
Permit Requirement
  • No sign permit required for signs at or less than 6 square feet.

DOG WASTE DISPOSAL SIGNS

Scottsdale Revised Code Section 4-18 – Domestic Animal Sanitary Requirements

The City of Scottsdale does not supply ‘pick-up after your dog waste’ signs to the public. Property owners and homeowner associations may purchase dog waste disposal signs online, from a home improvement retail store, or from a sign shop. The dog waste disposal sign must reference Scottsdale Revised Code Section 4-18 so that it can be enforced by a police officer or code enforcement inspector.

It is a violation to distribute printed materials including handbills, fliers and door hangers to a resident who has announced that they do not wish to receive them.

The City of Scottsdale does not supply “No Handbill” signs to the public. Property owners and homeowner associations may purchase No Handbill signs online, from a home improvement retail store, or from a sign shop. The Residential Handbill sign must reference Scottsdale Revised Code Section 19-9 in order to be enforced by a police officer or code enforcement inspector.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING SIGNS

Scottsdale Revised Code Section 17-124 – Accessible Parking for the Physically Disabled

Accessible Parking Sign Standards
Placement & Construction
  • Signs for accessible parking stalls for the physically disabled shall comply with City of Scottsdale Standard Detail Number 2124.
  • The bottom of the sign shall be 60 inches minimum above the parking surface.
  • One sign shall be installed at the head of each accessible parking stall beyond any vehicle overhang.
  • Signs and posts shall not encroach into or reduce the accessible route width.
  • Accessible van parking signs shall comply with the same standards.
