Scottsdale Update - June 22, 2026
Headline News
New pedestrian safety zones coming to Scottsdale parks.
Scottsdale is creating designated pedestrian safety zones at Chaparral Park, Mountain View Park and Scottsdale Ranch Park where e-bikes and other motorized devices will be prohibited in high-traffic locations. Developed through a partnership among Scottsdale Police, Parks & Recreation, Transportation & Infrastructure and the City Attorney’s Office, the initiative responds to resident concerns about speed and safety in crowded park spaces. The clearly marked zones will be supported by bicycle and e-bike parking, education and outreach, improving safety for families and pedestrians while preserving access for bicycles and lawful e-bike use elsewhere in the parks.
Scottsdale intensifies short-term rental enforcement.
Scottsdale is stepping up efforts to address nuisance parties, illegal activity and short-term rentals. In May, the city issued 56 charges and citations tied to criminal investigations, nuisance activity and licensing violations, while Scottsdale Police responded to 48 nuisance-related calls. Cases included a shooting, underage drinking, assaults, domestic disturbances and alcohol-related medical emergencies. Officers also worked with property owners to prevent two large promoter-sponsored events advertised on social media. The increased enforcement reflects the ongoing work of Scottsdale’s multidisciplinary Short-Term Rental Working Group, which continues to strengthen coordination, training and compliance efforts.
Scottsdale plans ahead for Colorado River uncertainty.
Scottsdale Water is preparing for potential Colorado River shortages by evaluating future shortage scenarios and developing strategies to maintain long-term water reliability. A cross-disciplinary team regularly assesses data, infrastructure and operational options to manage water resources under changing conditions. Supported by decades of planning and investment, Scottsdale is advancing a five-part water security strategy that includes demand management, advanced water purification, groundwater development, the proposed Bartlett Dam expansion and emerging water solutions. The city is also bringing new wells online to strengthen supply reliability and will continue refining its approach as studies and projects advance.
