Scottsdale, SUSD partner on purchase of Main Street office building
The city of Scottsdale and Scottsdale Unified School District are advancing a collaborative agreement for the city to purchase a district-owned office building at 7575 E. Main St., reinforcing a strong partnership between two public agencies serving the community.
Under the proposed agreement, the city would acquire the 0.97-acre property, which includes a 13,328-square-foot building, for $3.7 million. The item will be considered by both the Scottsdale City Council and the SUSD Governing Board before final approval.
“This is a great example of a public-public partnership,” said City Manager Greg Caton. “This is an office building that the city of Scottsdale previously owned, and it is great to bring this back into our portfolio of facilities. SUSD is an amazing partner with the city, and the potential of this transaction is a testament to how well we work together.”
The proposed purchase supports the city’s ongoing efforts to thoughtfully manage its facilities and provide workspace for its nearly 2,800 employees. City leaders anticipate using the building for administrative functions, with the potential for the Human Resources department to return to the location, as it did previously.
Scottsdale Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Scott Menzel said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to the community.
“We are excited to be able to present this opportunity to our governing bodies for their consideration,” Menzel said. “This collaboration highlights how two public organizations can work together to make thoughtful, strategic decisions that benefit the community we both serve.”
The agreement outlines standard due diligence, escrow and approval processes, with closing anticipated following the completion of a feasibility period and formal approvals by both governing bodies.
If approved, the acquisition would return the Main Street property to city ownership while supporting operational needs and strengthening intergovernmental collaboration.
