Scottsdale partners with Girl Scouts to launch new city-themed patch
The city of Scottsdale, in partnership with Girl Scouts–Arizona Cactus-Pine Council, will host a special community celebration to unveil a new Girl Scout patch created exclusively for Scottsdale.
The event takes place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E. Indian Bend Road. Join us for this special celebration by registering in advance.
Designed by a local fifth-grade Girl Scout, the Scottsdale-themed patch encourages Girl Scouts to explore their community while learning, serving and connecting with others. To earn the patch, participants will complete activities across a wide range of interests, from visiting museums and attending live performances to volunteering at a food bank, learning about Scottsdale’s anti-discrimination ordinance, or attending a City Council meeting.
“Scottsdale is a community built on service, curiosity and connection, and this patch brings those values to life for our young residents,” said Mayor Lisa Borowsky. “We are proud to partner with the Girl Scouts to create meaningful opportunities for girls to explore their city, build confidence and discover how they can make a difference.”
The March 28 celebration will honor the local Girl Scout designer, officially unveil the patch, and provide details on how Girl Scouts can earn it. The one-hour event will include guest speakers, light refreshments and hands-on activities, allowing participants to begin working toward their patch on site.
Following the ceremony, families are encouraged to stay and enjoy the park’s amenities, making it a full day of fun, learning and community connection.
The program reflects the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, which emphasizes girl-led exploration, hands-on learning and collaboration. Activities tied to the Scottsdale patch span key focus areas including STEM, outdoors, life skills and entrepreneurship, helping girls build confidence while strengthening their connection to the community.
