The FAA and the City of Phoenix have entered into a settlement of the litigation involving changes to the flight paths out of Sky Harbor Airport. Fortunately that settlement includes a requirement that the FAA engage in a public process similar to what they should have done prior to changing the flight paths.
While there is no way to predict the outcome of this process, the city believes this is an opportunity for residents to make their concerns known to the FAA.
The City of Scottsdale will continue to monitor the process and attend the upcoming FAA public outreach meeting.
A press release issued by the FAA includes an outline of the two-step process the FAA plans to undertake. It is believed that step two could come as early as April, but the timing has not been confirmed. Updates will continue to be posted on the Scottsdale Airport webpage.
