HEADLINES

Two important campaigns kick off in April - Sexual Assault Awareness and Child Abuse Prevention months. The goal of Sexual Assault Awareness Month is to raise awareness and educate on how to prevent sexual violence. The goal of Child Abuse Prevention Month is to encourage public awareness of child abuse and neglect, recommit resources, promote community involvement in preventing maltreatment and promote well-being. The city's Family Advocacy Center provides important resources.

Protect your home from wildland fires. The spring brings warm weather and an increased threat of wildfires to Scottsdale and the Southwest deserts. Be prepared and stay safe by following these tips.

EVENTS

Prolific musician, writer, journalist, actor and activist takes the stage at arts center. Henry Rollins appears at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. The program is part of the Out@SMoCA series which celebrates Arizona's LGBTQ community and its support of contemporary art in Scottsdale.

Civic Center Library hosts War World I series. Just about 100 years ago, on April 6, 1917, the United States entered into World War I. Learn about various aspects of the war by attending three free programs: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, April 6, 13 and 20.

Stadium hosts campout sleepover. Family fun at this event includes stadium tours, home-run derby, batting cages, fireside stories and more! The event runs from 4 p.m. Saturday, April 8, through 8:30 a.m. Sunday, April 9.
