Mayor Proclaims July General Aviation Appreciation Month
Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane proclaimed July as General Aviation Appreciation Month in Scottsdale. The proclamation cites that general aviation contributes nearly $609 million in economic impact and creates around 6,900 jobs in Arizona. The impact from Scottsdale Airport is about $182 million in annual economic activity from aviation activities and supports the Scottsdale Airpark – one of the largest employment centers in Arizona.
Mayor Lane joins over 70 top city officials this year in making General Aviation Appreciation Month proclamations confirming the value of general aviation, including business aviation, in their communities. Governor Janice K. Brewer proclaimed January 15, 2013 as Arizona Aviation Day.

Scottsdale Airport Master Plan
Scottsdale Airport is in the processing of updating its master plan. The Master Plan strategically plans for future aviation demands and infrastructure. It's a comprehensive study evaluating several key areas including aviation forecasts, demand/capacity, facility requirements, airfield design and safety standards, development alternatives and environmental reviews on airport property. However, it does not include noise abatement or studies, which was conducted through a public process in 2005.
The draft working papers for chapters covering the topics of Inventory, Forecasts and Facility Requirements are available for review and comment at http://scottsdale.airportstudy.com/.
Public participation and input is encouraged throughout the process. A public information workshop was held on October 1. The next workshop has not been scheduled yet. For questions, contact Scottsdale Airport at 480-312-8482.
