New Video Features Interviews ABOUT SUper BOWL at SDL

A new videolinks to external site highlights the success of Scottsdale Airport during Super Bowl XLIX.  Key team players are interviewed, including Arizona Cardinals’ President Michael Bidwill who says Scottsdale Airport is ‘number one for airport operations during Super Bowls.’ Scottsdale Airport led valley airports with the most airport operations for private jets with no delays and smooth operations. This success is attributed to the teamwork and preparation by the Federal Aviation Administration, NFL owners, Super Bowl Host Committee, Signature and Landmark fixed base operators and airport staff members.  Scottsdale Airport’s operational plan is serving as the model for the next Super Bowl.

Nearly 1,500 people took flight at this year's Run the Runway 5K/10K on April 4 at the Scottsdale Airport. The run raised over $60K for Playworks Arizona, a nonprofit organization that helps transform recess and play into positive experiences in low-income schools. A big thanks goes out to all those who supported the event, including airport/airpark tenants, users and businesses!

Scottsdale Airport Master Plan

mstr plan smallScottsdale Airport began updating its master plan in 2012. A master plan is a proactive record that identifies and plans for future facility needs. It focuses on several key areas including aviation forecasts, demand/capacity, facility requirements, airfield design and safety standards, development alternatives and environmental reviews.

At this point in the process, a draft final master plan report is being prepared.  Once completed a copy will be posted to the Airport Master Plan website. The plan will be presented for approval at the April 8 Airport Advisory Commission meeting and the May 12 City Council meeting.
