Junior Lifeguards

This program is designed to guide youth ages 13-15 into Lifeguard Training by building a foundation of skills, attitudes and knowledge. Areas of focus are prevention, fitness, response, leadership, and professionalism. Participants get the opportunity to volunteer with our swim lessons and water park/public swim times as well as being a part of the Aquatic team during the summer.

Program Prerequisites:

  • Must be 13 to 15 years old
  • Swim 100 yards freestyle continuously
  • Tread water for 1 minute
  • Retrieve a 10 pound diving brick from the deep end of the pool
The Jr. Lifeguard program will certify the participants as a StarGuard Elite Lifeguard if all minimum qualifications are met. To complete the course, a minimum of 50 volunteer hours is required between June 13 and July 31, and participants must be 15 years old by July 31 in order to be eligible for a Lifeguard certification.

Dates:

June 6 - June 9 (Monday - Thursday)
June 13 - July 25 (Weekly Meetings)

Locations:

McDowell Mountain Ranch Wed. at 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Eldorado Pool Tues. at 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Cactus Pool Tues. at 3 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Fees:

$87 Resident / $130 Non-Resident
