Notice of Proposed New Fee for On-Body Camera Videos Produced by Prosecution

In accordance with A.R.S. § 9-499.15, public notice is hereby given that the Scottsdale City Council may consider approving the following new fee at a meeting in the City Hall Kiva, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd., at 5 p.m. on June 12, 2018, but no sooner than 60 days after the posting date of this notice.

The City of Scottsdale proposes a new fee for on-body camera videos produced by the Prosecution Department in the amount of $60.00 per case. Anyone who requests an on-body camera video from the Prosecution Department as part of the discovery process would be required to pay this fee in advance.  Prosecution pursuant to state law is permitted to charge a fee to defendants requesting materials related to their cases.  Currently on-body camera videos are produced pursuant to the fees for general A/V files, but this has been found not to cover the costs involved in producing these types of videos or provide requestors with certainty on the amount to be charged. This proposed new fee covers the cost of producing on-body camera videos by Prosecution based on the average length of on-body camera videos.
