Scottsdale Police Death Investigation 02-06-22

Scott Harkness photoScottsdale, Arizona (February 7, 2022) *Update* The Scottsdale Police Department is providing an update regarding the homicide from Sunday, February 6th, 2022. The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Scottsdale resident, Scott Harkness. Scott was a member of the special needs community, was an active participant in the City of Scottsdale Adaptive Recreation Program, and an athlete with the Scottsdale Special Olympics Team, the Bobcats. 

Scottsdale detectives are still investigating and are asking for the public’s help with any information regarding this case.

Scottsdale, Arizona (February 6, 2022) The Scottsdale Police Department is investigating the shooting death of an individual who was found on the side of the road near 7900 E. Camelback Rd around 01:10 a.m. on Sunday, February 6th, 2022. 

Around 01:10 am, 911 calls came into dispatch about gunshots in the area. A witness was driving on Camelback Rd and saw an individual laying on the side of the road. The witness called 911 and first responders went to the location. The individual was transported to a local hospital where they died. The public identification of the victim is awaiting next-of-kin notification. 

Scottsdale detectives are investigating.

Camelback Rd was closed between Hayden Rd and Miller Rd for several hours but is now back open.
