How to apply
Print and fill out the city's volunteer application (PDF). Please contact the park staff at 480-312-0990 for information on the application process. Applications are accepted at the beginning of August and training will begin in October.
Each fall, new volunteers are required to partake in an extensive training regimen. Courses cover a variety of helpful information including Sonoran Desert flora and fauna, law enforcement, two-way radio procedures, communicating effectively, basic first aid, fire safety, area geology, Hohokam and area history.
|Trail Rovers||Answer visitor questions along the trail. Make certain that visitors are staying on the trail.|
|Interpretive Leaders||Lead interpretive tours along the trail and discuss a variety of topics including desert plants, animals and history.|
|Trail Sweepers||Make certain that all trail users exit when the park closes.|
Help repair and improve the trail.
|Administration||Stationed at the trailhead office, you will answer visitor questions and distribute park brochures and maps.|
