Scottsdale Public Library’s Summer reading program concluded August 1, and it was our most successful program in five years! A record was set for number of participants, as 7,443 individuals signed up for the challenge of reading 20 minutes a day. A total of 3,180 people completed the program, which is an increase of 18% over the previous year! Reading every day is important for everyone to increase knowledge, however it is critical for students so that they avoid the ‘summer slide’ – which is the loss of learning experienced over the summer once school is out.
Thank you to all dedicated staff who helped bring the program to life, and congratulations to everyone who participated!
