The Summer countdown is on! Scottsdale pools will be open from Memorial Day to Labor for water park fun, recreation swim & dive teams, swim lessons and lap swim. In order to offer full hours and services, Scottsdale is seeking 40 lifeguards to staff the pools and to teach swim lessons this summer.
“We always look forward to having our pools bustling with fun and activity in the summer,” says Kyu-Bin Hyun, Scottsdale Parks and Recreation Manager. “There’s something special watching families and swimmers come back to the pools year after year. We are excited to welcome new lifeguards to the City so they can be part of the experience. Being a lifeguard is rewarding and impactful – it’s more than a job. This summer we are offering lifeguards increased pay, a referral bonus and reimbursement for certification. Now is a great time to join Scottsdale Aquatics!”
Summer 2023 Lifeguard Incentives include:
- 'Special duty pay' during the peak summer season (May 21 - Sept. 9, 2023)
- Lifeguard/Instructor - $16.00/hour
- Head Lifeguard - $17.50/hour
- Assistant Pool Manager - $19.00/hour
- 100% of the StarGuard certification class reimbursed after 90 days of employment
- $125 employee Referral bonus for every lifeguard referred to the City
Scottsdale pools are conveniently located throughout the City, easily accessible by both car, public transportation and via bike lanes. Lifeguards can work flexible schedules, and this is a job that can last long past the summer with many opportunities for additional responsibility and advancement.
The first step to be hired as a Scottsdale Lifeguard, is to become certified through StarGuard Elite and Starfish Aquatics Institute. Four different courses are being offered in March. Classes are filling up, so don’t hesitate to sign up using these links:
