SPECIAL ELECTION BY MAIL

The City of Scottsdale, Arizona (the “City”), will hold a Special Election, on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, to seek approval for the issuance of bonds for parks, recreation, and senior services; community spaces and infrastructure; and public safety and technology in the principal amount up to $319,000,000. The estimated average annual tax rate for the proposed bond authorization is $ 0.2877 per $100 of net assessed valuation used for secondary property tax purposes.

This will be Scottsdale’s first election conducted completely via mail. Every registered voter will be sent a ballot with prepaid return postage. The Election Information Pamphlet will also be mailed to every voter household.

Ballots and information are scheduled to be mailed in early October.

A voter in this election must be a qualified elector of the City of Scottsdale. A qualified elector of the City is defined as a person, eighteen years or older, whose name appears on the Maricopa County voter register rolls in a precinct of the City of Scottsdale twenty-nine (29) days prior to the date of election. To vote in the November 5, 2019 Special Election by Mail, Scottsdale residents must be registered to vote by Monday, October 7, 2019.

No polling places will be provided for this election. The Maricopa County Elections Department will send an official ballot and return postage-paid envelope by first class mail to every registered voter in the City of Scottsdale on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Voters may return voted ballots to Maricopa County Elections via U.S. Mail. Voters may also drop off voted ballots at any of the replacement ballot centers listed below during the stated hours of operation.

If a ballot is destroyed, lost, spoiled, or not received, a replacement ballot may be obtained at the following locations:

To have your ballot counted, the Maricopa County Elections Department must receive your ballot by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Questions 1 through 3 will be presented to the qualified voters of the City in an informational pamphlet. The pamphlet will be mailed to the households of all registered voters on or before Monday, October 1, 2019.
