Brush and Bulk Service is Behind Schedule

Weekly trash and recycling service are unaffected.

Due to recent storms, a substantial increase in the amount of material being put out for collection and a labor shortage, monthly Brush and Bulk Collection is running behind schedule. The city is doing everything it can to get materials picked up as soon as possible.

For the remainder of October 2021, crews will focus on homes that have curbside brush and bulk service to have all city streets and common areas free of brush and bulk by Halloween. Please do not place items out after crews have collected in your area. Crews will be picking up curbside only in Area 2 the week of Oct. 11, Area 3 the week of Oct. 18 and Area 4 the week of Oct. 25.

The normal brush and bulk collection schedule will resume in November 2021 with the goal of having all alleyways clear of brush and bulk prior to Thanksgiving. To help crews catch up, please do not exceed existing city guidelines for the size of your brush and bulk pile, ten feet long, six feet wide and 4 feet in height (10x6x4).

Trash & Recycling Collection Days Are Changing

Beginning November 01, 2021, most Scottsdale trash and recycling residential customers will have a new pick-up day. Scottsdale will now pick up recycling and trash five days a week. To achieve this about 95 percent of Scottsdale residents will have a change to trash and/or recycling curbside days. Learn more

Hazardous Waste and Garbage Trucks Just Don’t Mix

Disposal of incompatible items such as, gasoline, pesticides, bleach, ammonia, and other household cleaners into a recycling container, trash container, or Brush/Bulk pile can cause a reaction when mixed with other solid waste material in a garbage truck.

Read the warning labels of items you are throwing away. Phrases such as: Flammable, Corrosive, Oxidizer and Combustible are warnings that these items need special attention for disposal.

A “Hot Load” is a load of material that catches fire, smolders, spontaneously combusts, or becomes toxic because of incompatible waste mixing inside a garbage truck. Hot loads can potentially jeopardize the health and safety of the driver of the garbage truck, as well as the public.

The City of Scottsdale Solid Waste Services asks that you know before you throw.
