The position of City and Town Clerks are among the oldest professions in local government. The first week in May is the annual celebration for the role the Clerk’s Office plays in local government. Clerks maintain records of Council Meetings and related actions, coordinate municipal elections, serve as a liaison for residents, and process contracts and other agreements, among many other duties. The Scottsdale City Clerk's Office supports the Council goal of accessible and responsive government by preparing and keeping the minutes of City Council meetings; overseeing the timely and accurate accumulation, preservation, and accessibility of public records; conducting fair and open municipal elections; and ensuring legal compliance of all official postings, public notices, and related advertising.
