Born in fire: Scottsdale's revolutionary fire sprinkler ordinance continues to save lives. May 19 was National Home Fire Sprinkler Day - an effort to recognize a life-saving technology that's been a part of Scottsdale since 1985. Scottsdale was the first city in the country to require home sprinklers in new construction, a move that's saved dozens of lives and multiple properties since its inception. Splish, splash! Bubbles fill new aircraft hangar. Watch how a 30,000-square-foot hangar was quickly filled with foamy bubbles - like a massive bubble bath. This new fire foam suppression system was tested to ensure airport users and luxury jets are well protected in the event of a fire. This hangar is one of the two new executive hangars being built at Scottsdale Airport as part of the Airport Terminal Area Redevelopment project.

McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park's Concert Series continues. Enjoy a variety of local bands from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sundays at the park. Bring a blanket, chairs and snacks - or buy munchies on-site. Train and carousel tickets are $2 each with kids 2 and younger riding free with a paying adult.

Vista del Camino serves as hydration station through September. These stations help protect vulnerable individuals during the summer by providing relief from the heat. Vista is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
Volunteers needed for Mighty Mud Mania. More than 100 volunteers are needed for muddy and non-muddy tasks. Mighty Mud Mania returns for its 43rd year from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 9, at Chaparral Park. One of Scottsdale's longest running and dirtiest events expects to host at least 8,000 people. Join the Scottsdale Police Department's Crisis Intervention Team for this important free program designed to promote mental health awareness and understanding.
