Mayor's Constitution Day Contest showcases American pride. Students cancommemorate the signing of the constitution by submitting art/video or an essay. Prizes will be awarded in both categories for three age groups. Deadline is Monday, Sept. 17.

Scottsdale City Council meetings resume Tuesday. After a summer hiatus, the Scottsdale City Council will resume its regular meeting schedule at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, in the City Hall Kiva, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd. Here's what's on the agenda.

Enjoy Scottsdale ArtWalk - an American original. Stroll at your own pace, wander into galleries through a festive area, and enjoy dramatic statues, bubbling fountains, tree-covered courtyards, famed restaurants and live music. ArtWalk runs from 7-9 p.m. Thursdays, year-round in Old Town.

Registration opens Tuesday for Scottsdale Water Citizen Academy. Take an inside look at all aspects of your city's water utility, which happens to be one of the most advanced municipal water systems in the country! Academy sessions will run from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on five consecutive Wednesday nights – Sept. 18-Oct. 16. Note that the first night begins at 4 p.m. Dinner and light snacks will be provided. Get details and register here starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Pima Freeway construction impacts city streets. The Arizona Department of Transportation continues widening the Loop 101 from Interstate 17 in Phoenix to Pima Road in Scottsdale. Eastbound Loop 101 is scheduled to be closed between Scottsdale and Hayden roads from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26. Learn more about the project and upcoming restrictions, and subscribe to updates at ADOT's project webpage.

Community Assistance Office soliciting for funding applications for Fiscal Year 2020/21. Section 501(c)3 and city programs are eligible to apply for funds that are available through Community Development Block Grant, HOME, Scottsdale Cares, city General Funds and Endowment Funds. Attend an orientation meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Paiute Neighborhood Center, Building 9. Print copies of the packet beginning Tuesday, Sept. 10; hard copies will not be available at the meeting. Applications for the FY 2020/21 funding process will be available beginning Tuesday, Sept. 10. The submission deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.
