Scottsdale traffic restrictions Sept. 28 - Oct. 7

Drinkwater Boulevard closed indefinitely for repairs to Civic Center Mall bridge

Drinkwater Boulevard will remain closed indefinitely to all traffic from Second Street to First Avenue to permit repairs to the Civic Center Mall bridge. Detour on Scottsdale or Miller roads from Osborn Road to Indian School Road. The Civic Center Mall Bridge will also be closed to all pedestrian traffic. More information about the repair project timeline will be available soon.

68th Street bridge and Arizona Canal Path remain restricted 

The inside lanes in both directions on 68th Street bridge (crossing the Arizona Canal immediately north of Indian School Road) are closed due to deterioration discovered during a routine inspection. Inspections, design and repair work will take 10 to 12 months to complete. The Arizona Canal Path reconstruction will be coordinated with the bridge repair. The path will remain closed from 68th Street to Goldwater Boulevard. Detour on the north side of the canal. Please visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov and search “68th Street Bridge” for more information. 

ROAD RESTRICTIONS SOUTH OF INDIAN BEND ROAD 

New restrictions

 

  • Parking will be restricted on Indian Plaza between Civic Center Plaza and 75th Street, on the west side of 75th Street south of Indian Plaza and on the east side of Civic Center Plaza south of Indian Plaza 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Oct. 5, for utility work.
  • The eastbound curb lane on McDowell Road will be closed immediately east of 68th Street Oct. 1 - 5 for sidewalk work. During those same times and dates the northbound bike and right turn lanes on 68th Street will also be closed. 
  • The northbound right turn lane on Scottsdale Road will be closed immediately south of Osborn Road 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Oct. 5, for utility work. During those same times and dates, the eastbound curb lane on Osborn Road will be closed immediately east of Scottsdale Road. 

 

Ongoing restrictions

  • The westbound right turn lane on Indian School Road will be closed at Hayden Road Sept. 24 - Oct. 8 for installation of a new driveway and sidewalk.
  • Northbound traffic on Civic Center Plaza will be shifted to the center left turn lane immediately north of Thomas Road 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24 - 28 for utility work. 
  • The westbound curb lane on Lincoln Drive will be closed immediately east of Scottsdale Road 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Sept. 28, for utility work.
  • The westbound curb lane on Indian School Road will be closed at 75th Street 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, for road work.
  • The northbound bike and right turn lanes on 68th Street will be closed immediately south of Camelback Road through Sept. 30 for road work. 

 

ROAD RESTRICTIONS FROM INDIAN BEND TO THUNDERBIRD ROADS

New restrictions

  • Multiple lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of Cave Creek Road and 112th Place 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 15, for utility work. 
  • Eastbound traffic on Cholla Street will be shifted toward the center of the road at 75th Street 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays Oct. 1 - 12 for utility work. During those same times and dates traffic in both directions on 75th street will be controlled by flaggers immediately south of Cholla Street. 
  • The westbound right turn bay into the plaza just west of 85th Place will be closed 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays Sept. 27 - Oct. 11 for utility work. During those same times and dates northbound traffic on 85th Place will be shifted toward the center of the road.

 

Ongoing restrictions

  • Shea Boulevard will be reduced to one lane at Scottsdale Road 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through Monday, Oct. 1, for utility work. 
  • The northbound curb lane on Scottsdale Road will be closed at Shea Boulevard 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays through Monday, Oct. 1, for utility work.
  • The westbound curb lane on Gold Dust Avenue will be closed at Scottsdale Road 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 - Oct. 5 for sewer work. 

 

ROAD RESTRICTIONS NORTH OF THUNDERBIRD ROAD 

New restrictions

  • The eastbound curb lane on Thompson Peak Parkway will be closed at 90th Street 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays Oct. 1 - 8 for utility work. 

 

Ongoing restrictions

  • Traffic in the cul de sac off Pinnacle Peak Road immediately west of Dobson Road will be controlled by flaggers 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 - Oct. 4 to permit boring.
  • 118th Street will be closed in both directions from Blue Sky Drive to immediately south of Quail Track Drive through Sunday, Nov. 18, for roadway improvements.
  • Multiple lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Acoma Drive 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 5, for utility work.
  • Eastbound traffic on Rio Verde Drive will be shifted to the westbound side of the road, and westbound traffic will be shifted to a temporary by-pass lane from 114th Street to 122nd Street though Friday, Nov. 2, while a roundabout is installed.
  • Hawknest Road will be open to local traffic only from immediately west of 86th Place to immediately east of 84th Street through Friday, Oct. 5, for utility work. Detour on Stage Coach Pass to the north or Black Mountain Road to the south.
  • Eastbound traffic on Rio Verde Drive will be shifted to the westbound side of the street, and westbound traffic will be shifted to a temporary by-pass lane, from 116th Street to 122nd Street Aug. 1 - Nov. 2 for roundabout construction.
