Scottsdale traffic restrictions June 16 - 24

The following is a partial list of road construction projects and traffic restrictions taking place in Scottsdale June 16 - 24. For more information, contact Traffic Engineering at 480-312-7250.

APS upgrading Stagecoach Substation

Multiple lane restrictions will occur on Stagecoach Pass from Lone Mountain Parkway to Cave Creek Road through the end of June while APS upgrades the Stagecoach Substation. For more information on the project, please see the APS letter to local residents.

68th Street bridge and Arizona Canal Path remain restricted 

The inside lanes in both directions on 68th Street bridge (crossing the Arizona Canal immediately north of Indian School Road) are closed due to deterioration discovered during a routine inspection. Inspections, design and repair work will take 10 to 12 months to complete. The Arizona Canal Path reconstruction will be coordinated with the bridge repair. The path will remain closed from 68th Street to Goldwater Boulevard. Detour on the north side of the canal. Please visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov and search “68th Street Bridge” for more information. 

Nighttime restrictions continue on Shea Boulevard for APS power line installation

Arizona Public Service (APS) will be installing a power line along Shea Boulevard from 90th Street to immediately east of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. Lane restrictions will typically include the eastbound curb lane from immediately west of 90th Street to 92nd Street and two eastbound lanes from 92nd Street to 118th Street in half-mile increments. All work will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights until late spring when work will require and additional closure of one eastbound lane during daytime hours. ROAD RESTRICTIONS SOUTH OF INDIAN BEND ROAD 

New restrictions

  • The northbound curb lane on Scottsdale Road will be closed at Vista Drive 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays June 21 - July 13 (except Monday, June 25) for trench work. 
  • Scottsdale Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Jackrabbit Road to Indian Bend Road 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23 and 25 for road work.
  • Multiple lane restrictions will occur at or near Hayden Road and McKellips Road 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, June 29, for road work. 
  • The southbound right turn and through lanes on Miller Road will be closed at Osborn Road 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays June 18 - July 13 for utility work. During those same dates and times westbound Osborn Road will be closed at Miller Road.
  • Scottsdale Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Virginia Avenue 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays June 18 -29 for utility work. 
  • The northbound curb lane on Hayden Road will be closed at Thomas Road 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights through Monday, July 16, for utility work. During those same dates and times eastbound Thomas Road will be reduced to one lane at Hayden Road.
  • Drinkwater Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Indian School Road to Second Street 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 18 - 19 and June 21 - 22 to permit work on the Civic Center Mall Bridge.
  • Southbound Drinkwater Boulevard will be closed south of Indian School Road to Second Street 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, to permit work on the Civic Center Mall Bridge. During this closure, there will be no access to HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center from Indian School Road. Detour on Miller or Scottsdale roads to the Osborn Road entrance to the hospital. 

Ongoing restrictions

  • Multiple lane restrictions will occur at or near the intersection of Miller Road and Second Street June 4 - July 9 while Second Street Path is improved.
  • The northbound bike and right turn lanes on 68th Street will be closed immediately south of Camelback Road through Sept. 30 for road work. 

ROAD RESTRICTIONS FROM INDIAN BEND TO THUNDERBIRD ROADS

New restrictions

  • Westbound Shea Boulevard will be reduced to one lane at Sundown Drive 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays through Wednesday, June 20, for utility work. 
  • The southbound curb lane on Scottsdale Road will be closed at Shea Boulevard weekdays through Wednesday, June 20, for utility work. During those same dates the eastbound curb lane on Shea Boulevard will also be closed. 

Ongoing restrictions

  • Traffic in both directions on 92nd Street will be alternately shifted to the center two-way left-turn lane immediately south of Redfield Road 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays June 7 - 22 for utility work.
  • Via Linda will be closed between Hayden Road and 90th Street through Friday, July 13, while the traffic circles are replaced with modern roundabouts. Detour on Mountain View Road. Visit ScottsdaleAZ.gov and search "Via Linda Roundabouts" for more information.
  • Hummingbird Lane will be closed west of Pima Road April 30 - June 30 for utility work.
  • Curb lanes in both directions on Shea Boulevard will be closed in 1500-foot sections from 92nd Street to 120th Street 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 1 - June 29 for utility work.
  • Eastbound Shea Boulevard will be reduced to one lane from 90th Street to 118th Street 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through June 28 for utility work. 

ROAD RESTRICTIONS NORTH OF THUNDERBIRD ROAD 

New restrictions

  • Southbound traffic on 94th Street will be shifted to the center turn lane immediately south of Bahia Drive 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays June 18 - July 6 for boring.
  • The southbound curb lane on Thompson Peak Parkway will be closed at Grayhawk Drive 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays through Thursday, June 28, for utility work. 

Ongoing restrictions

  • Multiple lane restrictions will occur on Scottsdale Road/Tom Darlington Drive from Westland Road to Cave Creek Road through the end of September while a sewer force main pipe is installed. For more information about the project, please see the Liberty Utilities notice mailed to residents in the area. All traffic restrictions are 24 hours. Restrictions through July 20 include the following:
    • Scottsdale Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Carefree Highway June 18 - July 20 for curb median removal.
    • Scottsdale Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Boulder Pass to Meander Way June 11 - 29 for utility work
  • Traffic in either direction will be shifted to the center of 75th Street at Karen Drive 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays May 31 - June 25 for utility work.
  • Traffic on Greenway Road will be controlled by flaggers at 79th Place 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays May 31 - June 25 to permit trench work.
  • Eastbound traffic on Grayhawk Drive will be shifted to the two-way center lane from 76th Street to Hayden Road 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 31 - June 15 for utility work. During those same dates and times the southbound curb lane on Hayden Road will be closed at Grayhawk Drive.
  • Stagecoach Pass Road will be closed from 97th Street to Lone Mountain Parkway 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays June 11 - 20 for utility work. Detour north on Pima Road to east on Cave Creek Road to Lone Mountain Parkway.
  • Multiple lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of Greenway - Hayden Loop and Scottsdale Road 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through Friday, July 8, for utility work.
  • Multiple lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of McDowell Mountain Ranch Road and Thompson Peak Parkway 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays May 29 - June 29 for boring.
  • Intermittent closures of the bike land and shoulder will occur in both directions on Lone Mountain Parkway from Stagecoach Pass to Cave Creek Road 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays through Friday, June 29, for utility work.
