Scottsdale traffic restrictions April 30 - May 9

Following are significant road construction projects and traffic restrictions occurring in Scottsdale April 30 - May 9. For more information, contact Traffic Engineering at 480-312-7250.

Loop 101 improvement project (updated)

The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a project to widen and improve Loop 101 from Interstate 17 in Phoenix to Pima Road in Scottsdale. To learn more about the project and upcoming traffic restrictions, please visit ADOT’s project webpagelinks to external site, where you can also subscribe to project alerts. Following are current and upcoming restrictions:

  • Westbound Loop 101, including all ramps, will be closed from Pima Road/Princess Drive to Scottsdale Road from 10 p.m. Friday, May 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 10. Detour on Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Thompson Peak Parkway.

  • The westbound on-ramp at Hayden Road and the westbound off-ramp at Scottsdale Road will be closed 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights May 10 - 13. During these same times and dates, the westbound frontage road between Hayden and Scottsdale roads will be closed.

  • Westbound Loop 101, including all ramps, will be closed from Scottsdale Road to Tatum Boulevard from 10 p.m., Friday, May 14, to 5 a.m., Monday, May 17. Detour on Pinnacle Peak and Bell roads.

  • Westbound Loop 101 will be closed from 56th Street to State Route 51 from 10 p.m., Friday, May 21, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 24. Detours will be marked onsite.

  • Loop 101 will have intermittent lane closures between Interstate 17 and Pima Road through spring 2021 for diamond grinding of the pavement. For more information on the diamond grinding process and a map of the Loop 101 closures, please see ADOT’s flier.

Lane restrictions on Hayden Road at Princess Drive

Through traffic on Hayden Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction at Princess Drive 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays April 16 - 30 while a High Intensity Activated Crosswalk (HAWK) is installed. 

Lane restrictions near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Thunderbird Road (new)

Multiple lane restrictions will occur at or near the intersection of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Thunderbird Road 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays April 30 - May 14 for utility work.

Lane restrictions at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Altadena Avenue (updated)

Multiple lane restrictions will occur at the intersection of Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Altadena Avenue 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 – May 14 (except Sundays) for utility work.

Lane restrictions near Hayden and Thomas roads intersection (new)

Multiple lane restrictions will occur at or near the intersection of Hayden and Thomas roads 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays April 28 - May 12 for boring.

Scottsdale Road restricted near Oak Street

Scottsdale Road will also be reduced to one lane in each direction between Palm Lane and Oak Street 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays April 19 – May 7 for utility work.

Lane restrictions near Scottsdale and McDowell roads

Multiple lane restrictions will occur at or near the intersection of Scottsdale and McDowell roads through Friday, May 14, for utility work.
