Scottsdale Public Library Patrons enjoyed a variety of Genres in 2022

Looking back at 2022, the Scottsdale Public Library welcomed 548,993 visitors to one of its four library locations and 2,223,369 items were borrowed. While examining the library’s robust collection, staff compiled a list of the top 10 print books and DVDs borrowed most often by library patrons in 2022. The book list is dominated by works of fiction, while the DVD list shows that action, science and thrillers are wildly popular with library patrons.

“The titles that our patrons borrowed most often in 2022 cover a range of fiction, with the thriller, historical and mystery categories dominating,” said Alicia Brillon, the library’s Senior Manager for Technical Services. “It is notable that the 10th most popular book title was in the comic/graphic novel category! This shows that our younger patrons are avid library users which is wonderful to see.”

Topping the print book list is the 2021 novel “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave, which is a mystery about a woman who thinks she's found the love of her life - until he disappears after 1 year of marriage, cryptically asking her to protect his 16 year old daughter.
The most popular DVDs among Scottsdale Public Library patrons were those in the action, science fiction, thriller category. Number 1 was “Free Guy”, a story about a bank teller who discovers that he is unwittingly enmeshed in a multiplayer online game and his exploits after becoming a real player in the game.
